Cyprus Worries About Child Safety

Cyprus is talking a lot about keeping children safe. This is because of two big news stories.

First, a court in Limassol said a man was guilty. He hurt his partner's young daughter many times over four years. The girl's mother knew about it but did not tell the police. The court said this was wrong. A school psychologist helped stop the abuse. She told the girl's father and the police.

Second, new numbers about schools are very bad. Last year, there were many fights. Almost 1,000 students had physical fights. More than 2,000 students used bad words. There was also a lot of bullying.

These two problems show that Cyprus must do more to protect children. People say schools need more psychologists. Everyone who works with children needs better training. Parents and teachers must learn how to see problems and help.

Cyprus now wants to turn this worry into action to keep every child safe.
