Council Accused of Bad Hiring

Polis Chrysochous Council has big problems. A deputy mayor made a complaint. He told the government about hiring new workers. He says the hiring was not allowed.

Some people in the council wanted to hire seasonal workers. They wanted them to be permanent. Some deputy mayors voted for this. Their family members were hired. This is not fair. It makes people not trust the council.

A meeting was on February 26. Eight people wanted to hire new workers. Eight people wanted to keep old workers. The mayor made the last choice. He chose to keep the old workers.

Some workers worked too long. They worked more than nine months. This helped them become permanent. Then, some hourly workers became permanent. Family members of deputy mayors voted. This happened on Monday. On Tuesday, 17 more workers were approved.

The deputy mayor said he will not go to meetings. He wants fair hiring. He asked the government to check. The government will likely look into this.

If the claims are true, the hiring is bad. People will not trust the council. Fair hiring is very important. The next few weeks will show what happens.
