Japan-China Problems Stop Music Shows in Shanghai

Last weekend in Shanghai, many music shows were cancelled. Famous Japanese singers Ayumi Hamasaki and Maki Otsuki could not perform. A big Japanese festival was also stopped.

This happened because of problems between China and Japan. Last month, Japan's leader talked about Taiwan. China says Taiwan is a part of China. China was very angry about the comments.

The problems quickly affected culture. At a concert, Maki Otsuki's music stopped suddenly. The lights came on and she left the stage. Her team only said there were "unavoidable circumstances."

The next day, Ayumi Hamasaki's show was cancelled. The festival was also stopped. The organizers said they thought about "various factors."

Fans are very disappointed. They are writing online that it is disrespectful. Experts say this shows how government problems can hurt culture. When countries disagree, music and art can suffer first.
