This weekend, hundreds of Greek farmers blocked important roads. They are angry because they have not received money they were promised from the European Union.
The farmers received their first payment this year, but it was 100 million euros less than last year. This is because the government found some people lied to get money. Now, everyone must wait for checks on 40,000 farmers. This means good farmers are also waiting for very important payments.
The farmers used tractors to block roads, including a major highway between Athens and Thessaloniki. Police used tear gas, and some people were arrested. A farmer's leader said they will stay on the roads until the government helps.
The government says it must stop the lying, but it will pay the honest farmers. However, the checking process is very slow. Farmers plan more protests because they need the money to survive.
