US and Venezuela in Dangerous Dispute

The United States and Venezuela are in a very dangerous argument. It started because the US says Venezuela helps drug dealers. Now there is military action and problems for airplanes.

In early September, the US military started an operation against drug ships in the Caribbean. They attacked some ships and many people died. Some US politicians are now asking questions about these attacks.

Then, US President Donald Trump had a phone call with Venezuela's leader, Nicolás Maduro, in October. But the call did not make things better.

Last Saturday, President Trump said the airspace above Venezuela was "closed." Venezuela called this a threat. After that, Venezuela stopped six foreign airlines from flying there. This caused big problems for passengers and travel.

Now, the situation is very serious. The US says it is fighting drug networks. Venezuela says the US wants to change its government. It is hard to see a peaceful end to this problem.
