The Cyprus University of Technology (TEPAK) will build a new school in Larnaca. The school will be for marine sciences, technology, and sustainable development. It will be in the Mackenzie area, near the old airport.
The university rector, Panagiotis Zafeiris, announced the plans. Construction will start in 2025, and the first students will begin in 2028. The building will be over 12,000 square meters. All the necessary permits are ready.
The project is a big investment. The first three years will cost 21.7 million euros. After that, it will need about 3.5 million euros every year. The school hopes to have 420 students by 2030.
There might be a small delay, but the plan is to start building early in 2025. This new school is important for the university and for Cyprus. It will change an old airport area into a modern place for learning and research.
