Cyprus Helps Plan EU Climate Action After Big Meeting

Cyprus took part in an important climate meeting called COP30 in Brazil. The meeting had people from all over the world. Cyprus’s Agriculture Minister, Maria Panayiotou, was there for the European Union.

The EU wanted strong global rules to fight climate change. But the final agreement was a compromise. It says countries should stop using fossil fuels one day and promises more money to help with climate problems. However, it does not say exactly when these things must happen.

Minister Panayiotou said the deal was not as strong as the EU wanted. But she said it was good that all countries agreed and continued to work together.

This meeting is very important for the EU’s future climate plans. Cyprus will help with these plans. The country will lead meetings for the EU in 2026. This means Cyprus must now work to turn the global promises into real EU laws.
