Prisoners Stop Eating Meal in Cyprus

Syrian prisoners in Cyprus protested. They are in Wing 11. They did not eat lunch on Wednesday. The prisoners are upset. They want to go home. Their papers for early release are late.

The protest stopped. Prison bosses talked to the prisoners. Cyprus has problems with prisons. The country also sends people home. These prisoners want to go back to Syria. They wait for a pardon from the president.

Prison workers said it takes time. They know there are delays. Bosses said people will leave soon. This made the prisoners happy. They will eat again. This helps make prisons less full. Many people will go home.

Most of these prisoners are Syrian. They did not do bad crimes. They did not kill anyone. They did not sell drugs. The process is slow. The Syrian prisoners are not happy waiting.

About 130 prisoners were ready to go home. Most of them are Syrian. Prison workers made a list. The list went to a special office. These prisoners will finish their time by 2026.

Sending them home takes many steps. Police check each person. They look at papers. The Syria ambassador wants them home faster. The protest is finished. But prisoners still want to go home.
