A big football match in Limassol, Cyprus, led to violence on Thursday. The match was between two rival teams, AEL and Apollon. Hundreds of police officers were there, but they could not stop the trouble.
Before the match, fans fought outside a club. Because of this, police knew the game would be a problem. More than 300 officers came to keep order.
During the day, fans caused more trouble. They blocked roads with motorcycles and set off dangerous flares and firecrackers. Someone even fired a flare at police officers. Police arrested four people. One police officer was hurt and went to the hospital.
The people who were arrested face serious charges. One man is in jail because he allegedly fired the flare at police.
Before the match, police said it should happen without fans. But the football association said no. Now, people are asking big questions about safety at football games.
