Two boys, aged 13 and 14, were badly hurt in separate car crashes in Larnaca last Sunday. Both crashes happened in the morning on country roads. The boys were driving the cars.
The first crash was in Athienou. A 14-year-old boy was driving very fast on a dirt road. He lost control and the car turned over. He has a serious head injury.
The second crash happened at a similar time. A 13-year-old boy was driving and hit some trees. His car also turned over. He has serious injuries but is now stable.
Police arrested two adult relatives after the crashes. One relative owns the car from the first crash. The father of the 13-year-old owns the second car. Police are asking them questions because the boys are too young to drive.
These accidents have started a big discussion. People are asking why the boys had the cars. Police say it is very dangerous for children to drive. They do not have training or a license. The police investigations are continuing.
