Cyprus Fights More Crime

Cyprus has more crime now. This makes people feel unsafe. There have been fights with weapons. This is a big worry for everyone. Criminal groups from Cyprus and other places are part of this.

Last weekend, there were bad events. In Larnaca, people used guns and knives. Police did a big search on Sunday. They looked for people without papers. Many people were caught. They will go back to their homes.

The Justice Minister, Costas Fitiris, talked about this. He knows people are scared. He said the government will stop all criminals. They will fight organised crime.

Police think the violence and the search are connected. But fighting crime is hard. A murder in Limassol also shows this. Police caught someone for this. But it is hard to solve big crimes.

A law to record phone calls is ten years old. It is not ready yet. This law would help police. They could use phone talks as proof. Without it, police have fewer ways to fight crime.

Now, people are watching the government. They are trying to stop crime. They need good laws and tools. Cyprus must act fast to be safe.
