US President Wants Greenland, Puts Taxes on Europe

The US President wants to buy Greenland. Greenland is a big island. It is part of Denmark but has its own leaders.

The President will put new taxes on things from eight European countries. These taxes will start at 10 percent. Then, they will go up to 25 percent.

The President said the taxes are because these countries do not want to sell Greenland. The countries are Denmark, Norway, Sweden, France, Germany, the UK, the Netherlands, and Finland.

European leaders are not happy. They will have a meeting soon. The President of France said the taxes are "not okay." The Prime Minister of the UK said they are "wrong."

The taxes will start in February. They will be 10 percent then. In June, they will be 25 percent. The taxes will stay until the US buys Greenland.

People in Greenland and Denmark are not happy. They are protesting the US plan. This situation is important. It shows countries have different ideas.
