Hong Kong is very sad after a very big fire. The fire happened in a public housing area called Wang Fuk Court. At least 128 people died. This is the worst fire in Hong Kong in 80 years.
The fire burned for more than 40 hours. More than 2,000 firefighters worked to stop it. The fire spread quickly because of building materials that burn easily. About 150 to 200 people are still missing, and this is very difficult for their families.
The city will have three days of official mourning. Flags are flying at half-mast to show respect. The city leader and other officials held a quiet ceremony. Many people are visiting memorial sites to remember those who died.
Police have arrested some people. They are looking into why the fire happened. Some people are arrested for corruption with building work, and others for manslaughter. Many people want the government to find out the truth. They want to make sure a fire like this never happens again.
