New Rule: No More Thin Plastic Bags

The government in North Cyprus has a new rule. You cannot use thin plastic shopping bags. This starts on January 1st.

The bags are very bad for nature. They break into small pieces. These small pieces are called microplastics. They are a big problem everywhere.

The government wants to help. They say, "We must protect nature for our children." Now, people must use different bags. They can use paper bags or strong bags many times.

Shops will not give out the thin bags. This is the second new rule about plastic. The first rule was in 2023. It stopped some plastic forks and plates.

The sea and animals will be cleaner with less plastic.
