Sick Animals in Cyprus

Cyprus has a big problem. Farm animals are sick. It is a bad sickness. It goes from animal to animal.

This sickness is called Foot-and-Mouth Disease. It spreads very fast. Some farmers do not like the rules. This makes the problem bigger.

The rules say sick animals must die. This stops the sickness. The European Union has this rule. It helps all farms.

The sickness started in Larnaca. Many sheep and goats died. Many cows also died. More animals may die.

A leader said hard choices are needed. Farmers are sad. They lose money. They lose their animals. Some farmers are angry. The police know.

Animals are getting shots. These shots help them fight sickness. Most cows got shots. Not many sheep and goats did.

The leaders will help farmers. They will give money. They will check how much farmers lost. The leaders will pay money.
