Pet Shops in Cyprus Have a Problem

Many pet shops in Cyprus are not following the law. An animal group says this. The shops sell animals but do not have a license. A license is a paper from the government. It says the shop is good.

Only 40 shops have the license. About 60 shops do not have it. The government says these shops must get a license by December. If they do not, they cannot sell animals. They can only sell pet food. They might also pay money, up to 1000 euros.

Cyprus has many animals with no home. The animal group says people should get a pet from a shelter, not a shop.
