Mine Falls Down In Congo

A sad thing happened. A mine fell down in Congo. About 200 people died. Helpers think more people are dead. This mine is called Rubaya. It is for coltan. Coltan is used for phones.

The mine fell when it rained. The ground was not strong. People saw the earth fall. Many miners were there. Children and sellers were there too. A helper said over 200 people died. About 20 people are hurt. They are getting help.

The Rubaya mine is near Goma. It gives coltan for computers too. People worked there. They did not get much money. It is hard to help now.

We do not know why the mine fell. The rain made a big slide. This slide went through the mine. Some people are buried. Others are stuck. The bad weather made it unsafe.

People are trying to help. But the ground is still unsafe. It is risky for helpers. This is very sad for the people. Mining can be very dangerous. It is more dangerous with bad weather. People want to help those hurt.
